Summary:
Updated vixie-cron adds laus logging and fixes various bugs
An updated vixie-cron package that adds laus logging features and fixes various bugs is now
available.
Description:
The vixie-cron package contains the Vixie version of cron. Cron is a
standard UNIX daemon that runs specified programs at scheduled times.
Vixie-cron adds enhanced security and more powerful configuration options
compared to the standard version of cron.
This updated vixie-cron package generates laus logging records which audit
the owner of the cron process, rather than root.
As shipped with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 Update 2, cron audited all cron
jobs as if they had been initiated by root. This updated vixie-cron
package includes a fix that causes cron jobs to be audited under the
uid/gid of the owner of the job.
This update also contains fixes for a number of bugs with crond including:
- omits comment header to crontab files and stdin
- supports stdout and stderr better when forking child processes
All users of vixie-cron should upgrade to this updated package,
which adds this feature and fixes these bugs.
