Bug Fix Advisory - RHBA-2004:417-07
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Summary:
Updated grub, parted, rhpl and anaconda packages
Updated grub, parted, rhpl, and anaconda packages that fix various issues
related to installation on new hardware are now available.
Description:
GRUB (Grand Unified Boot Loader) is a boot loader capable of booting
into most free operating systems - Linux, FreeBSD, NetBSD, GNU Mach,
and others as well as most commercial operating systems.
The GNU Parted program allows you to create, destroy, resize, move,
and copy hard disk partitions. Parted can be used for creating space
for new operating systems, reorganizing disk usage, and copying data
to new hard disks.
The rhpl package contains Python code used by programs in Red Hat Linux.
This update adds installation support for the following:
* IBM POWER5 systems
* Hard drives attached to various onboard SATA controllers
* Hard drives attached to Promise SX8 controllers
This update also adds changes to the link detection logic when doing
automated installations on machines connected to gigabit switches.
All users of grub, parted, rhpl and anaconda should upgrade to these
updated packages, which resolve these issues.
