Bug Fix Advisory - RHBA-2004:338-11
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Summary:
Updated strace package

An updated strace package that fixes several minor bugs and adds some small
enhancements are now available.

Description:
The strace program intercepts and records the system calls and the signals
that are received by processes. Strace is useful for diagnosing problems
and debugging, as well as for instructional purposes.

The following bugs have been fixed:

- ioctl command values were recognized and their proepr names shown
- previously misprinted names
- output for the quotactl system call showed incorrect values
- sched_setaffinity and sched_getaffinity system calls

On the AMD64 platform, strace is able to trace both native 64-bit programs
and 32-bit programs. Previous versions had a bug that prevented
showing system call information for 32-bit programs. This has been corrected.

The following enchancements have been added:

- strace now recognizes sched_* system calls
- strace now indicates if it dumped a core file when a traced process dies
with a signal

Users of strace should install these updated packages, which resolve these
issues.
