Summary: Computer viruses are an ongoing problem across the Internet. OIT will share information about viruses that are causing significant problems at UCI, as well as point you to virus protection resources.
- E-mail Virus Scanning
- OIT now scans incoming e-mail for viruses and cleans up infected messages. This protection is available only to messages sent to @UCI.EDU addresses.
- Virus software in use at UC Irvine
- With new viruses being released every day, it's wise to install and update anti-virus software on your computer. There are several effective anti-virus programs on the market and used at UCI.
- Trend Micro HouseCall
- AVG from Grisoft (Free for personal home use. Not University owned machines.)
- F-Prot (Some free versions available for home use.)
