UC Irvine Radio Repair Procedures
Summary: The NACS Response Center can help
you with repairs of your UCI 800 MHz radio.
- Radio trouble tickets are generated by the NACS Response Center (949-824-2222). Be
prepared to provide the following:
- Contact name and extension number
- Department
- Location
- Radio
ID number and serial number
- Trouble being reported
Customer must deliver handheld radios
to NACS at 5201 California Avenue, Suite #150 (University Research
Park). The battery, antenna,
and dust cover should be retained by the customer, unless it is part
of the trouble being reported.
- NACS will contact our contracted service provider for pick up and
repair of broken Motorola radio equipment.
- Handheld radios under factory
warranty will be repaired at no charge. Handheld
radios out of warranty receive flat rate repair service. With
shipping/insurance and tax, current cost for MTS2000 is $482.72.
- Desktop (base)
and mobile radios, along with 6 bay chargers are also repaired under
Motorola flat rate service. Costs do vary; please contact Brian
Chrisman at (949) 824-8151 for further information.
- Trouble with backbone equipment is also handled by NACS. Please
contact the NACS Response Center at (949) 824-2222 24 hours a day,
to report backbone trouble. NACS will work with our contracted Motorola
service provider to resolve system problems.
- If a programming change is requested to solve the
trouble you are reporting, NACS will coordinate the reprogramming
of the radio. Depending on the problem, you may be recharged.
Individual radios are $35.00; multiple radios are $60.00 per hour.
- When a repaired radio is returned to NACS by Motorola, the department
will be notified that the radio is ready for pick up. You
MUST sign the repair ticket when picking up repaired radio equipment.
