UC Irvine 800 MHz Radio Ordering Procedures
Summary: We provide 800 MHz radio service
to the UCI campus. Use the information below to order radio service.
Effective August 1996, Network & Academic Computing Services (NACS)
assumed responsibility for providing 800 MHz radio service for campus users. Departments
that wish to obtain 800 MHz radio service must submit a Network & Academic
Computing Services – Telephone & Network Request Form to NACS at
5201 California Avenue, #150, Zot 5475 or by fax (949)824-2270. Departments
should not contract directly with vendors for 800 MHz radio service.
To purchase a new 800 MHz radio please follow the steps listed below:
- The department must submit a Purchase Requisition for the 800 MHz radio
and related equipment to Procurement Services. Contact Ralph
Kupcha at (949) 824-5823 for assistance. The completed Purchase Requisition
should be sent to Procurement Services, Attn: Ralph Kupcha, Zot 4530.
*NOTE: All parts & accessories can be purchased directly
from Motorola using a PAL card. Information on ordering parts and
accessories can be found at http://www.nacs.uci.edu/network/orderingparts.html
- A NACS Service
Request Form must be submitted to authorize programming of the radio and
monthly reoccurring charge. The forms must include account,
fund, sub, and an authorized signature. The form is available on-line at http://www.nacs.uci.edu/service-request/.
- Procurement Services receives the requisition and places the order with
Motorola. The equipment is shipped to Network & Academic Computing
Services (NACS), 5201 California Avenue, #150, Zot 5475. NACS will
contact the department to arrange the programming of radio(s). Cost
for programming is $35 per a radio. Multiple radios will be billed
at an hourly rate.
- The department will be invoiced monthly for 800 MHz radio backbone system
maintenance. These charges will appear on the department’s monthly NACS
Telephone Billing Statement. The cost will be $11.50 per month per radio.
