UCI offers a free basic modem service to Faculty, Staff and Students. Anyone with more than modest needs should use a commercial Internet Service Provider (ISP).

Students living on campus should use ethernet connections where available. Check with your Housing Office or visit the Residential Computing Web site.

The LifeLine Modem Service has the following restrictions:

Limited Usage
- Limited to 10 hours per week of Prime Time usage.
- Current Prime Time: 6:00 PM - 1:00 AM, Sunday - Thursday. (Effective January 21, 2000)
- Check my Prime Time usage
Session time limits
- Currently, each individual modem session will be limited to 2 hours in length.
