Summary: Most classrooms are connected to the UCI network (UCInet) for Internet access. Locations and details can be found below.
Introduction
UCInet Classroom Network is a joint effort of Network & Academic Computing
Services (NACS) and the Division of Undergraduate Education (DUE). The goal
of UCInet Classroom Network is to provide network connections in most general
assignment classrooms used by UCI faculty to teach courses "on-line".
These network connections provide the instructor with access to UCInet, campus
computing resources and the Internet.
Locations
Most classrooms are currently connected to the UCI network (UCInet). A list
of the classrooms can be found in the Instructional
Resources Center's ClassNet Web area.
Register to use ClassNet
Network connections located in classrooms are managed by the UCInet
Mobile Access DHCP server. The Mobile Access Server provides authorization
and DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) services to both wireless and
wired networks. A database of authorized UCInetID's and network card Ethernet/MAC
addresses is maintained by NACS to authorize mobile computers on UCInet.
If you bring your own laptop into classroom, you will need to register your computer's MAC address before you will be assigned an IP address through DHCP on the classroom network.
