NETWORK PROGRAMMER - The Network and Support Programming group (NSP) group within the Network and Academic Computing Services (NACS) department is responsible for the ongoing development, provisioning, and support of network services such as the domain name service, electronic mail anti-spam, anti-virus, and relay services, directory and identity management services, Kerberos based authentication services, web based single sign-on services, and other network infrastructure services. Under general supervision as a member of the NSP group, the incumbent will be responsible for developing software applications based on written and verbal specifications in support of the campus data network using a variety of high-level programming and scripting languages such as C, C++, Perl, Python, Ruby, or PHP. Additionally, this job requires the ability to carry out system administration tasks and ensure the proper and secure operation of Solaris, RedHat Linux, and Windows computer systems that provide campus-wide services. Duties include making routine application and operating system configuration changes and accurately producing web-based documentation of operational procedures and policies. Members of the Network & Support Programming group are responsible for responding to and ensuring the resolution of service outages during non office hours on a weekly, rotating basis, every 7-8 weeks. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR - Under the general direction of the Assistant Vice Chancellor (AVC) of Network and Academic Computing, the Executive Director has the overall lead among the NACS Directors of the daily operation of Network and Academic Computing Services (NACS). The Executive Director also plays the role of Director of Infrastructure Services, and is immediately responsible for the following NACS organizational units: Central Computing Systems, Distributed Computing Support, Network and Support Programming, and IT Security. Organizational assignments may change in the future. The Executive Director has broad responsibility for a range of services with impact and visibility across the campus, and beyond. Core network services, electronic mail, and campus-wide network security fall within the Director's immediate portfolio. He/she directs and supports the efforts of managers to ensure a robust and consistent approach to the provisioning of computing and communication services at UCI. The Director helps oversee maintenance, support and planning for all NACS services, and ensures that communication channels to the campus regarding both routine and strategic matters are well utilized and effective. In addition to his/her operational responsibilities, the Director, working closely with others, plays a significant role in the development of NACS' strategic vision. He/she also works with the Assistant Vice Chancellor and the other NACS Directors to create a productive and satisfying work environment, helping to attract and retain talented professionals. The Executive Director is also responsible for assimilating and articulating overall NACS technology directions and vision, working closely with the Assistant Vice Chancellor. TELECOMMUNICATIONS CUSTOMER SERVICE SUPERVISOR - Customer Service, Billing & Administrative Duties: Under general supervision of the Customer Service Manager, the incumbent has the following responsibilities: Assist clients with understanding the telephone and voice mail system features and pricing, update the NACS Web pages with current information on our services and pricing, oversee billing data entry performed by AAII and AAI billing staff., ensure accurate billing of voice and data work orders, research complicated billing questions and resolve billing disputes. Generate NACS monthly telephone billing statement. Process cellular service orders and recharge for cellular invoices. Update the operator lookup database to ensure accurate listing information. Assist Telecommunications Specialist in preparing work orders for the field: includes reviewing orders, assigning work order number, completing paperwork with specific information and updating spreadsheets. Serve as back up to Customer Service Manager in overseeing all office functions. Serve as back up to AAII for processing travel. Supervision: Supervise AAII front desk position, and two campus switchboard operator positions. Project Coordination: Coordinate telephone directory listing updates for all faculty and staff on the campus and at the UCI Medical Center. Develop and document procedures, authorize users and provide training for OLDUS (On-Line Directory Update System). Team leader for the annual UCI Campus & Medical Center Telephone Directory publication. Coordinate all activities related to directory production and distribution, Update the front section databases for the UCI Campus & Med Center Directory. Submit final directory data to the publisher. JR. TELECOM SYSTEMS ENGINEER - Under the supervision of the Director, Network Operations, and with direction, guidance, and technical support from the Senior Telecom Systems Engineer, major responsibilities include: Telecom System Administration and Maintenance: Performs hardware and software system administration and maintenance for the campus telephone network, and systems such as the Ericsson PBX and Cisco IP telephone systems, voice mail, automated attendant, ACD, and Emergency 911 services. Installs, upgrades, operates, troubleshoots, repairs and maintains the campus telecom network and systems so that they meet or exceed client expectations for functionality and reliability.
