DOCUMENTATION
Create and maintain accurate and detailed web-based internal and end-user documentation, history logs, system schedules, policies, and procedures related to Network and Support Programming group managed services.

Other duties as assigned.

Required:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills. {all}
Experience with Unix scripting languages such as Perl, Python, Bourne/C/bash shell. {1, 2}
Experience writing web server CGI code in C, shell script, Java, or PHP  {1,2}
Experience installing, configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting the Solaris, Redhat Linux, and Windows operating systems. {1,2}
Experience using IP-based tools such as ping, traceroute, netstat, snoop, tcpdump, or dig, to troubleshoot and correct system or network problems. {1,2}
Ability to isolate problems, identify sources of help and information, and work through lengthy resolution processes. {1,2}
Knowledge and experience creating, organizing, and updating HTML web pages {3}
Ability to create accurate and detailed end-user and internal web-based system documentation. {3}
Ability to maintain a positive attitude and contribute both as an individual and a team member to achieve the goals of the department. {all}


Desired:
Experience writing software that queries and/or updates LDAP directories.  {1}
Knowledge and experience creating software applications using Java, C, or C++ {1}
Experience with identity management concepts, applications, and vendor solutions. {1}
Experience configuring and managing DNS, Sendmail, Spam Assassin, MailScanner, ClamAV {1}
Knowledge and experience defining, populating, and querying SQL databases. {1,2}
Experience with Web based single sign-on technology such as “Pub Cookie” {1}
Experience with the Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) {1}
Experience with source code revision control systems {1,2}
Experience installing and configuring the client and server side of the MIT Kerberos authentication system. {1}
Knowledge and ability using the Macintosh OS/X operating system. {all}

Special Conditions of Employment:
Occasional overtime may be required.   Incumbent will be required to carry off-hours pager on a rotating schedule with other group members.  While on call, incumbent is required to ensure any off-hours failures of NSP services are resolved in a timely manner.

Work Location: University Research Park, UC Irvine Campus - Network & Academic Computing Services office.
