Tailoring X Windows
When you have used X11 for a while you may want to change things around
to suit your own needs. Some of the things you can change are:
- which applications are started automatically when you log in
- the default positions of the windows and icons
- the colors and sizes of the windows etc.
You can edit the files '.xinitrc', '.Xdefaults', and '.twmrc' to make just
about any changes you can imagine, but before doing so, you should read
the handout "Using X11 Release 5 at UCI", available in the handout rack
in the hallway adjacent to Lab B, Engineering Gateway 1140.
