NACS believes that campus groups housing computing clusters and servers in an environmentally appropriate location, i.e., with proper cooling, power, and security is essentially to the campus.

Effective September 1, 2006

NACS delineates the pricing to UCI and UCI-affiliated organizations for the monthly costs of hosting computing hardware in the NACS Academic Data Center (ADC).

For UCI organizations providing services to the overall UCI community, charges may be waived by NACS.

UCI Organizations, Research Units, and Departments:

The monthly cost of hosting a rack mounted system on a NACS provided rack will be $11.25 per month per ‘U’ of system width. Non-racked mounted systems are discouraged from this service and will be charged for the equivalent “Us” of vertical height in a rack.
Systems using 10 or more “Us” will be charged the maximum of $200 per month.
A system providing its own rack will be billed based on the $200 per month amount. Systems using significantly more than one rack's worth of floor space will be billed $200 per 'rack' per month.

Other UCI-Affiliated Organizations:

Such systems will be expected to provide their own racks with their systems. The price per each rack (approx 2x3 feet) is $400 per month.

Installation Costs:

The cost of installing a system to the ADC power and network will be borne by the owners of the systems. NACS will recharge the owners for any Facilities Management costs associated with the system. Power and nominal network usage are included in the monthly pricing.
